Anchor Points: your family's core values, on the TV everyone sees

FamilyOrganization.app is the family organizer on the TV you already own, with an ADHD-friendly visual timeline for each person (Roku now; Apple TV, Fire TV and Google TV coming).

Its Anchor Points screen is a family values display for that TV: write each value in the iPhone app, with a one-line promise and a few points about what it looks like, and the whole family sees them on the big screen.

Definition

What are family core values? (With examples)

Family core values are the few principles a family agrees to live by, such as telling the truth, being kind or keeping promises, written down so everyone can point to them.

Five values come up again and again. In 36 AI answers about family values that we saved in September 2026, the most-named were:

  1. Respect (in 94% of the answers)
  2. Responsibility (92%)
  3. Honesty (89%)
  4. Kindness (89%)
  5. Communication (75%)

They work best when there are only a handful, when everyone helped choose them, and when each one says what it looks like on an ordinary day. “Be respectful” is hard for a six-year-old to act on; “knock before you come in” is easy. Many families write theirs at a family meeting and revisit them as the kids grow: a family meeting agenda you can reuse.

The table shows six values a demo family might choose, written the way Anchor Points shows them. The app doesn't come with starter values; you write your own.

Short answer

How do Anchor Points work?

Anchor Points put your family's values on the TV: each has a short title, a one-line promise and up to five points, and the TV shows them together on its Anchors screen.

You write them in the iPhone app, under Family. “Truth: we tell the truth” might have points like “even when it's hard” and “own it when you get it wrong”. Keep titles to one word; the TV gives each title one short line.

On the TV, the Anchors screen shows the values in two columns of boxes. Six fit at once; with more, the screen drifts slowly upward in a loop. You open it with the remote whenever you want the family to see it, for a family meeting, or a calm moment after a hard one.

Change the words whenever your family does. Nothing is printed, so the values can grow with the kids. A value sticks when it shows up in the day, so you can turn a value into a routine: “Team” becomes a ten-minute tidy after dinner that everyone ticks off on the TV.

Short answer

What is a family mission statement?

A family mission statement is a short statement, written together, of what your family values and how you want to treat each other.

Where core values are single words, a mission statement joins them into a sentence or two the whole family can repeat. In FamilyOrganization.app it can be one Anchor Point, with the values beneath it as its points.

How do you write a family mission statement?

  1. Hold a short family meeting, and let everyone name what matters most at home.
  2. Pick three to five of those values together.
  3. Write each as a plain sentence a child can repeat.
  4. Read it aloud, fix what doesn't sound like your family, and put it where everyone sees it.

What are some examples of family mission statements?

  • “In our family we tell the truth, we help each other, and we finish what we start.”
  • “We are kind at home first, we try hard things, and we rest when we need to.”
  • “We listen until the other person finishes, we say sorry and mean it, and we laugh together every day.”

These are our own examples, written for this page. Short ones are easier to remember than long ones.

Short answer

How can a family display its values at home?

Put them somewhere everyone looks every day, in words a child can act on, and keep them easy to change.

A printed sign in the hallway, a list on the fridge or a board by the door all work. The catch is that a sign is hard to update and a fridge note gets buried under everything else.

FamilyOrganization.app puts them on the TV the family already watches. You edit them on your iPhone, and the Anchors screen shows them in large type from across the room, with room under each value for what it means. The same TV shows each person's day, so the values sit next to the routines and chores that put them into practice. Wherever yours go, read them together now and then, at a family meeting or after a hard day, so they stay words the family actually uses.

How it works

How do you put your family's values on the TV?

Write them once on your iPhone; open them on the TV with the remote whenever the family needs them.

  1. Step 1: Choose a handful together

Four to six values the whole family agrees on. Fewer is easier to live by.

  2. Step 2: Write each one

A one-word title, a one-line promise, and up to five points about what it looks like at home.

  3. Step 3: Open them on the TV

Move to the Anchors screen with the remote. Edit the words on your iPhone whenever they stop fitting as the kids grow.

Short answer

Is there a quote of the day on the TV?

Yes. A quote of the day runs along the bottom of the TV's main screen and changes through the day, themed by the categories you pick.

In the iPhone app, choose one category for every day or a different one for each weekday, and how often the quote changes, from every hour to once a day. You can set it for the whole household or for one TV.

The TV fades to the next quote when it's time, and keeps the last 20, so anyone can page back with the remote to one they liked. Anchor Points say what your family stands for; the quote of the day adds a fresh thought beside the schedule.
