Build Journey

One Friday Night, I Put Dinner on the TV

August 14: the family menu on the TV.

The Ford family · Josh, dad and builder of FamilyOrganization.app, writing up his build journey

On Friday, August 14 I added a family menu screen to the TV, along with a quote of the day row. The two features were built at the same time in the same files, so I committed them together.

The TV's screens are now a cycle you step through with the remote's fast-forward and rewind keys, instead of a row of tabs, which keeps the vertical space. Play/pause flips the top toggle on whichever screen you're on: Upcoming or All on the calendar, Today or Week on the menu. It was about 20 files and 2,700 lines. Here's the meal planner today.

Built on August 14, 2026 (commit e3aa531). Written up on October 2, 2026 from my commit history.

See your family's day on the TV you already own.

FamilyOrganization.app is in beta on Roku and iPhone. Apple TV, Fire TV and Google TV are coming soon.
